How many years of college do u need to be a surgeon?

well, i'm 14 years old and my mom wants me to become a surgeon when i grow up. I wanted to know how many years of college it will take me.

  1. You have to complete four years of undergraduate school and obtain a bachelors degree. Then you have to be accepted into a medical school and complete another four years. Then after that, you have to be accepted into a surgeon residency program that last up to four more years

    Also, don't become a surgeon just to please the parents, your life,your career. Do it for you and no one else.  Your mom should be ashamed of herself trying to live through you.

    Tell her if she wants to be a surgeon to get her butt back in school!

  3. To be a surgeon takes many years. Here is the break down:

    4 years undergrad

    4 years medical school

    4 years general medical internship

    4 years surgical internship/specialization (2 years general surgery, 2+ years specialization)

    You're looking at 16 years before you can be a full-fledged surgeon, though you will be doing "doctor" stuff long before you are fully licensed and can go on your own.
