  1. I am in the teacher prep program at Michigan State University for secondary education (middle school and high school). You are required to have a degree in the subject you wish to be certified for and you can have a teaching minor if you choose. Upon completion, you must do post-grad student teaching to get certified. This can range from 9 weeks to an academic year, depending on your university.  If you are in an undergraduate prep program, that's a 4 year program that includes teaching classes, plus the student teaching. If you already have a degree, outside of  the teaching program and you want to become a teacher, the post-bachelor programs are usually two years and include teacher preparation courses and student teaching.

  2. Gcse's English/Maths A*-C grade

A-levels - 2 years (Take the subject you want to teach if secondary school)

University - 3 years (Take the subject you want to teach again)

PGCE - 1 year (Just learning how to be a teacher)

    Then get applying!

  3. A levels: 2 years degree: 3 years Post grad teaching certificate: 1 year so depending on your age if you are school leaver: 6 years if you have done your a levels= 4 years. THIS BASED ON UK REQUIREMENTS. Oh you also need to have at least c grade in maths and english GCSE. good luck it is a great career even if it does seem a long way off it is all worth it.

  4. 4 years if you just go regular sessions.  3 if you can do summers.

  5. If you're in Scotland (I'm guessing you're not...) then its 4 years to be a primary teacher, 5 years if you do a degree in a random subject first and convert it with a post grad(6 for languages).  4 years to do a concurrent course (unless its languages) in secondary or primary at somewhere like Stirling.

  6. In Scotland you have the options of either a four year Bachelor of Education degree, which takes four years. Or you can study for one year on the post-graduate programme, if you already have a degree. In order to gain entry to the Bachelor of Education Primary Education degree you do need some highers at specified grades.

  7. I go to the University of Michigan and it is going to take me about 5 years to get my elementary education degree but i could have done it in 4 if i would have had a good councilor telling me exactly what classes i needed..i ended up taking things i don't need..

  8. In the UK after GCSEs:

    2 years 'A' levels

3 year teaching degree OR 3 years degree in specilised subject plus one extra year post-graduate teaching qualification.
