  1. It is technically a 4 year program at most colleges,  but that includes taking classes in the summer and/or winter interim. It took me 4 1/2 years doing 2 summers of classes in addition to 15 hours a semester. I wouldn't recommend getting a masters until you are hired by a district because many schools won't hire someone who already has a masters. Many schools also have tuition reimbursement, and you can earn your masters that way.

  2. Depends on the program.  Mine was a five year program but i have a BA in elem K-6 and masters on ESE k-12.

  3. Typically it's just four like any other education teacher if you find a school with a specific program for special needs based education.  However, I believe you are better off shooting for a master's degree in which you could specialize more intently on special needs in the master's program and just get a basic education degree for a bachelor's

  4. Normally it takes four years to become a special education teacher. If you want to specialize in some discipline, you can earn a master's degree to further your knowledge.

  5. No matter what degree you go into it never takes 4 years anymore unless you are a die hard and go all year round.  I have a special education minor and had to do a separate internship that was a whole year long just to recieve my minor.  All in all college took me about 5 1/2 years to complete. Hope that helps
