I am entering my freshmen year at a community college in a week and a half. I plan to transfer out hopefully after the first year, as you only need a GPA of 2.4 and 12 units completed there.

I want to become an elementary school teacher, and am already taking Math for Elementary school teaching, but I was curious, do you need to take math for the remaining years of college? What about english?

  1. check with the school(s) you're planning on transferring to on what their elem ed degrees consist of

  2. You have time, but I suggest that you check with your local and state Department of Education for specific requirements. If you go to a university with a School of Education, they will know the requirements.

You may need an MSED, or the BS plus 30 credits to get the job.

  3. You usually need three English classes (often literature but definitely basic English), but usually only math class is required.
