  1. There really aren't any jobs in astronomy if you don't have a PhD.  A PhD in physics takes an average of 10.5 years of college, and astronomy is a sub-field of physics, so it's pretty much the same amount of time.  Maybe a little less if you work fast.

You'll need to take all the math and science you can in high school, but don't skimp on the English and composition courses - astronomers need to be able to write as well.  In college, major in physics and take courses in math, astronomy, and computer science.  Then go to graduate school for astronomy, astrophysics, or physics.

  2. the second you look at the sky and wonder whats out there you become an amateur astronomer which doesn't get paid now to become a professional astronomer you have to go to school get a high degree then you have to intern then if research center likes you become one otherwise you an amateur astronomer

  3. Astronomers take a PhD in most cases, so figure 10 or so years of college if you don't waste any time.

Astrologers, on the other hand, can have no more than elementary school educations, after which time they would have learned that it is all meaningless tripe and moved on to more useful pursuits...

  4. About fifteen minutes

  5. You need to re-post your question in the correct forum.

    This is ASTRONOMY.

    You asked about ASTROLOGY.

    Astronomy is science.

    Astrology is entertainment.

No worries, its a common mistake.

  6. A friend of mine took a phone job as an astrologer.  She said it was easy.  The sucke...er I mean customer would call in and my friend would ask their DOB, and time if they new it, also where they were born.  She plugged all this into some software they supplied and presto, the horoscope appeared.  These were very detailed and the secret to making good bucks was to keep them on the line as long as possible.

She said most don't take it too serious, it's like having your palm read for fun.

  7. Astrologer?  As in, the person who does horoscopes?  You don't go to college to learn that at all.  It isn't a science, it isn't a legitimate field of study, and true scientific double-blind studies have proven over and over and over that there is no truth behind astrology or horoscopes or natal charts or any of it.

Now, if you mean ASTRONOMER, someone who studies stars and planets and works at planetariums and gets to see pictures from the Hubble telescope and learns how to use a radio telescope - that's a true scientific discipline.  You will need at the very least a bachelor's degree to get a job in this field and it's probably not a bad idea to go on for a graduate-level degree.  You need a lot of math and physics in high school to prepare for this field.

  8. Do you mean Astronomer? At the very least 4 years of undergraduate school. Majoring in Physics and most likely a minor in Astronomy. An Astrology is a meaningless bull that says your destiny is mapped out based on the day you were born. So no school for that...

  9. As long as it takes the editor to say "You can make up the astrology column this week".
