How many years or what is considered the normal life span of a hdtv?

  1. Depends on the brand and if the TV is LCD, Plasma, DLP or Rear Projection.  All these are able to display HD format.

    Most LCD (once again this depends on the brand) and Plasma sets are good for at least 60k hours.  Panasonic tested their units and based on 7 hours a day, 365 days a year, they came up with a life span of about 20 years.

    DLP & Rear projection units will last that long BUT will most likely require "maintenance" along the way.  In most cases, it's changing of the bulbs.  Some are gone in as little as 30k hours........
