  1. very long time but it all depends on the stainless steal quality and mixture

  2. In salt water 8.3 times as long as mild steel and 67% the life of copper according to a casket maker.

.0001" per year erosion in pipes.

120 years for rebar on concrete

It can be recycled and is valuable.

Who really knows? I guess it depends upon how thick it is, the grade, and what kind of moisture and other things it gets exposed to.

There has been a stainless steel bar lying outside of where I work for 10 years and nothing has changed but some stainless will actually began to oxidize under the right conditions.

  3. It largely depends on where.

For example, if it ends up under the ocean, for instance, it wouldn't take very long.

The Titanic, for instance, will have show no visible traces after about 2,000 years.

But, if it is in a dry climate, for example, the Desert Southwest of the United States or the Sahara Desert, perhaps as much as 25,000 years.

It all depends, (not to mention the quality of the stainless steel, itself).

  4. It depends on the quality, some starts to rust right away.
