How many years will it take?

Question

My friend is 18 and he wants to eventually work as a criminal investigator, or someone who goes under cover to bust drug dealers. How many years will take that if he's 18 now and what is the process of him having to do this.

Criminal investigator is a good option.It will at least take 5 to 6 yrs

Start as a cadet to start accruing time towards retirement, at 21 become a cop and spend the usual required 3-5 years pushing a black and white then avail to go into narcotics. 6-8 years from now would be what he is looking at.

Is he wanting to do this in the civilian world or in the Military.  If Military, I can give you the insight.
