How may suitcases should I pack for college.?

Going to college today at 5am. I am about to pack four cases. Two big ones with my clothes, one small one with shoes, cosmetics and toiletry, then a fourth with blankets and other things. Am I over doing it. Also, how can I lighten the load. My mothers helping with two suitcases, but still. I don't want to seem like I'm going all out with this. Normal?

That really isn't that much. but can I suggest that you do not pack but one good dress outfit. There is not much need for dressing up in college and one outfit should get you through most events. the same goes for shoes. Leave the heals at home. You will wear sneakers and sandals most places. Like the person before me said, Walmart is always an option or waiting until you go home again.

how you travel can make a big difference. i do not think you are packing too much! i love packing and when i go on vacations my parents always give me a limit like 2 suitcases so i love to make everything fit! does anyone know how many suitcases a 13 year old is allowed on an airplane?

How are you traveling? By plane, this is a bit much.

By car, take everything that will fit.

My daughter and I drove her from home in LA to grad school a couple weeks ago in West Virginia. The entire car was the suitcase. We even took her TV.

As for lightening the load, ditch everything you are the least bit unsure of whether you will need. Because most of it you will not. And for the few things you will still end up needing, there is always Wal Mart and Target.
