It is important for the Islamic law regarding money matters. Islam had provided a law on how to divide the assets one leaves after his death. & there are many other money matters that Islam legislated. In the old days life was simple & people were able to survive with simple math. But as Islam expanded & the Islamic empire thrived, new issues came up & the science of balancing & restoration made things easier.

'Balancing and restoration' means you perform the same thing on both sides an equation: You add 2 to the left, you also add 2 to the right; Subtract 3 from the left, you also add 3 to the ride.  This would serve a spiritual purpose, as it fulfills the first basic principal of morality, which is to do no harm.  (Beyond that, take positive actions to do good.)
