Going out in off road vehicles, dune buggies or ATVs and running across fragile soil, killing vegetation and cutting new trails that will  eventually become erosion trenches.  Cutting down forests without replanting and destroying watershed.  Plowing open fields and leaving the soil barren without growing crops to act as ground cover.  Diverting streams and rivers away from a region. . .Oh well just to name a few contributing factors.
