  1. Minerals are chemical compounds with a specific crystalline form. They form either by crystallisation  from a melt (igneous process) or by recrystallisation in the solid state from other minerals.


  2. By mineral i assume you mean the solid mineral.  These are formed as liquid, usually water precipitates out of a solution.  The atoms move from an unorganized state , begin to form bonds and a more organized microscopic structure.  The outside appearance of a mineral has everything to do with the way these atoms bonds together at the molecular level.
