Question:

How misshapen are my ears? (2 Photos)?

When I was little people used to tease me all the time and it really hurt my self-esteem. I had surgery on both my ears, 2x each, and the end result is what you see in the photos. I think they are still strange, and it really makes me uncomfortable. I saw the best ear surgeon in the U.S. after the first surgeries by another very well-known surgeon, and he said there isn't anything that can be done without the risk of terribly distorting them because cartilage is very hard to work with. I don't know how much I'm blowing it out of proportion since I've been uncomfortable about them for so long. Would you please look at these photos and tell me what you think? This wasn't easy to do--to open myself up like this in this public forum, but I once heard the expression, "If you can't talk about your problem, then you don't have the problem... the problem has YOU." And yes, I know some people have extremely deformed ears, and some none at all, so I am fortunate, I know. Anyway.. here goes... Thanks so much for taking the time to give me your feedback. 2. Dude, you should live with what you got there!  I have seen wayyyyyy worse, and I couldn't tell you that you had surgery on them.  Don't let it get to your head!

  3. yeah well no ones perfect i mean when i was about 8 i was riding a scooter and fell the scooter tore open my chin now i have a big scar across my chin but hey like i said no one is perfect but in my opinion they look like regular ears. i do see that their a tad droopy but dont let that get ya down go out and have some fun and remember dont let make your self esteem go down we should chat somtime

  4. dude, it's fine.

    they're a little round, that's all.

    it's okay, chill man

  5. I can't see that they are a problem.  They look fine, think about some other feature that you like next time you feel conscious of them.

  6. your ears are fine! You should be happy you've got unique ears. seriously, don't listen to anyone that tells you otherwise. Kid's will be kids. i think they look cool. If anyone is saying anything now their just kidding with you.

  7. Well....ur ears aren't bad at all i mean they are alittle bit big..but it doesn't look that bad..if ur so uncomfortable with them grow ur hair long and cover them up...or just don't care what ppl say about you..they aren't bad...

  8. They look perfectly normal! Ears are ears, no ones going to stare at them. If you're still not comfortable with them, think of all the efforts you've already taken and accept their appearance. Although personally, I see nothing wrong with them.

  9. They look totally normal to me. Don't worry about it =]

In my opinion, big ears are SUPER cuteee. But you don't have big ears...which is also a good thing =]

  10. They really aren't that bad.

They're just kind of short and round.

  11. well, from what I can see,, to tell you the truth, they seem in proportion with the rest of your face...they are shaped differently then I have seen on others, but never would I tease you about it or be repulsed...and not because I am mature, but because I don't see a reason in doing so. They are just ears, meant so that you can hear, not for beauty necessarily...I can't even really answer your question "How misshapen are my ears?" because I don't know how, I don't see them as misshapen...more so I see them as unique...but I can understand how you feel

when someone finds a flaw about themselves, especially if they were teased about it, u tend to see it worse then it really is...I know from personal experience...and common sense of course

  12. They aren't really bad, they just seem kind of short and not the most natural-looking they can be.

  13. Cauliflower ear occurs after someone gets a hit or repeated hits to the ear. Wrestlers and boxers are more likely to have cauliflower ear because their ears may be hit while they're in a match. These blows can damage the shape and structure of the outside of the ear.

  14. They look pretty normal to me. At worst if I saw them in real life they might look a little big (?) but even that is hard to say without seeing them in proportion to the rest of your head/face. Even if they are a bit large, tons of people have much bigger ears so that is nothing to worry about.

If you are really self conscious still you could grow your hair out a bit until you are over that but there isn't any need to hide them IMO. They look perfectly fine.

  15. Huh? What is wrong with your ears? I dun see anything "wrong"....I dun really examine a person's ears when I speak to them, until they say "do my ears look strange?".

Btw, they look normal in my opinion...if you still dun feel comfortable with em, go and look for a hair stylist instead to have a hairstyle to cover your ear!

  16. I don't know what your ears looked like before, but I think that your surgeon did a fantastic job!  They look like pretty normal ears to me.

I can definitely understand where after a childhood of teasing, you would still be unsure of yourself.  I was a very ugly child.  I know, I know, it sounds pretty harsh, but I'm a realist, so there you are.  I was TORMENTED by the other children at school, well into high school. At about 15 years old, I just kind of grew into myself, and became very pretty.  In college, I had some very big modeling contracts with well known clothing companies.  Now, in my upper 20's, I still turn heads when I go out.  I have an amazing (and very handsome) husband, and a great life.  Even with all of that, and knowing that realistically I should not worry about my looks, I PANIC at the thought of bumping into someone who was mean to me growing up.  I still worry that I will be thought of as ugly by these people and be made fun of.

Your ears look great now, and you SHOULD know that on a realistic level.  However, it will always be a sensitive subject for you.  You will wonder, from time to time if your ears still look as if there is something wrong with them.  Just know that this feeling is ok, and totally normal for anyone who has gone through such a traumatic emotional experience.  Remember to keep in mind, on a rational level,  that your ears DO look totally normal, even though you WILL feel this way sometimes.  Feeling self conscious IS going to be the psychological side effect of what you have gone through.  If you can be comfortable in rationally knowing that this is the case, you will be in control of your fear- your worries will be greatly diminished, and your ears will no longer affect your life.

Your ears have been fixed- now you have to fix your life.
