  1. At least 1500 to live modestly

  2. The most difficult in Paris is to find a housing. There are student rooms of 9m² for €120 but they are really difficult to get in Paris. So you will have to find a room or apartment yourself. A small romm costs at least €500, a small flat €1000. Have a look there if you want to figure out the current prices on the market place:

A student can eat in the student canteen "Restaurant universitaire" for €2,85, which is very cheap, so you will spend at least 200€ for food (you can easily add €200 if you do not want to eat only cheap food).

    Public transportation cost approximately €50.

My answer would be: a student needs approximately €750 to live meagerly.

However the cost of the accomodation is the greatest part of the expense, it is up to you to define what you need. Dianamcc's response is right: your expenses in Paris can easily reach €1500.
