How much Asphalt is exported from Trinidad's Pitch Lake?

I was just wondering, how much asphalt do we export from de Pitch Lake?

Is this an important part of our economy? Or is it a minor part?

Also, I know that Trinidad has the largest of three pitch lakes in the world, but where are the other two located?

Trinidad exports approximately 3 milllion dollars worth of asphalt annually. The pitch lake at La Brea( the pitch-in Spanish) is 40 ha wide and 75 miles deep(approx) and holds  reserves of six to ten million tonnes,which at the present rate of extraction would last for another 400 years.

Venezuela has the second largest:Guano(Bermudez) Lake in the Orinoco basin.It covers more than 445 ha and contains an estimated 6mil tonnes of asphalt.

The third is the La Brea tar pits in Los Angeles,California.

Have not a clue, but since there are only three asphalt lakes and we're the largest (other 2 are next door - Venezuela) I'm assuming that we export a lot - many roads in this world to pave (leave trini for last!)

We exported over  3 million dollars worth of asphalt last year.

It is a very important part of our economy in Trinidad and Tobago.

There are only a few known asphalt lakes worldwide:

    * Pitch Lake at La Brea, Trinidad and Tobago

    * La Brea Tar Pits in Los Angeles

    * McKittrick, California near Bakersfield

    * Carpinteria, Santa Barbara County, California

    * Lake Bermudez in Venezuela

good night trini sam, well i dont know much bout this but here is my 2 cents..

i know that last year we exported approximately $50 million dollars worth of it last year. so that wolud definatley make it a major part in our economy.

i know bout the one in venezuela im not to sure bout anywhere else..
