How much Coffee is too much..?

Question

I drink loads of it, the expensive filter kind now that I stopped smoking. I will even wake up at 3am with a craving and fix a large pot of it while reading.

i know how you feel! i used to have a good few cups in the vevening and would be up all night, it made me become nocturnal i swear.

apparently up to 4/5 cups a day is okay, but i find really that is to much. having a cup or two a day is actually apprently good for you. i wuld cut down if i was you, especially if your adding lots of sugar in it and stuff...i used to have like 3 sugars. i cut it out completely and the first few days i was DEAD seriously, it was so bad but then i started having cups when i really needed it and youd be suprised what an effect it has when you cut down, a cup does really give you a boost when you only  have it occasionaly. i dont no if youve found it, but whne you have so much it doesnt give you any extra energy because your body just gets dependant on it to bring you to normal levels.

you seem to be just replacing the smoking addciton with coffee, but well doen for quitting and having too much coffee is far better than smoking any day!

Glad you quit smoking.  If you are craving coffee it may be a result of not smoking.  I guess you could try changing some things you do.  drinking a pot of coffee at one time is may be too much.  Give you Jitters and hard to get away from.  Also maybe some of the good decaffeinated   coffee's are not like they used to be.  Good Luck

Maybe a personal thing - I hit the 3 litres a day mark and knew it was to much - likely different for everyone

My gym instructor said that more than 2 cups a day can make you put on weight because its speeds up the conversion of energy to fat.
