How much D E to put in a pool filter?

Question

Pool man on vacation and I backed flushed the filter now I want to re-charge the medium. How many cups of D.E. do I put in a 22,000 gallon pool?

it should say on the bag of d.e. how much to use. if i remember correctly my pool was about the same and used about 12 pounds(not cups),use a coffee can or something that equals a pound to measure. jmeechum is  right ,i remember now!

The size of the pool is not what matters: it is the size of the filter.  The general rule of thumb is 1 scoop of DE for every 5 sq. ft of filter area.  This info can be found on the label of the filter.  (Assuming it's still there and readable; if so, it may also tell you how much DE to add right on it.)  DE scoops are readily available at any pool supply store or online.

(If you can tell me the make and model of the filter, I most likely can tell you how much to add if all else fails...)
