How much Do I tip a bartender?

Question

Do I treat it just like a waiter? 15% for the standard. Then add for good service. Minus for bad service. I usually order beer in a bottle so I don't work them that hard.

A dollar a drink.  Always make sure you tip bartenders, casino dealers and waitresses at least 15%.

Each time you order a beer, throw the bartender a buck - you order 2 beers, throw him 2 bucks etc....

i usually tip $1 per drink..  sometimes a dollar and change..  but i also rarely drink and am usually getting soda..  if the bartender offer to not charge me for my soda i give them $2 tip..

Depends how much you spend....

$50 US dollars + average service= $7.50 tip. good service, $15.00 tip.

Bad service, 5 bucks.

$35 US dollars + good service= seven dollar tip. bad service, 3 dollars... average service, $5.25

i think you should treat your bartender well, a dollar tip a beer at least, the better you treat them the better they will treat you. no matter if you are just ordering beer in a bottle, say if the bar is completely packed and there is a huge line, if you are a good tipper they will remember you and will probably hand you a beer before they even start on the line, if you are a bad one... well have fun waiting. plus some bartenders will throw in free drinks just knowing that you are going to tip them well. be good to the ones that help you feel good then deal with your drunkenness! :D

A buck a drink is standard for bartenders and cocktail waitresses. This usually ends up to be about 15-20% because most drinks are around $5. But even if your drink is cheaper, a buck is minimum. However, if you run up a large tab of cheap drinks, say $100 worth of $3 drinks, I would say 20% is fine, you don't have to give them a buck for every one. If you have a $9 tab for three $3 drinks, still give them at least $3, even though it seems like a large percentage of the bill.
