i just filled out the online fafsa.ed.gov application a couple days ago. My expected contribution is $0. Not sure which is better, $0 or alot more. Anyway, if anyone else has had a similar EC, and applied, do you know an approximate amount I should expect from this or the PELL GRANT, if they're not the same thing....I'm starting community college in August for Graphic Communications and hope to be able to get enough extra from them to get a laptop for school.

  2. The lower the EFC the better.  You probably qualify for the full Pell grant, which is about $4700.  Your school will let you know exactly what you are eligible for, and it may include other grants, work study and loans.  Try not to take out loans, if you can.
