  1. None.    1998 remains the "warmest year on record" - the "record" being about 140 years long and, prior to 25-30 years ago primarily based on estimates.

I know - they'll tell you to look at "five year averages" - and if 2009 and 2010 are as cool as the second half of 2007 and 2008 to date, they'll tell you to look at "ten year averages" or "twenty year averages."

But they call US deniers, they call US cherry pickers.......

Here's their game - cold weather is "just weather," while warm weather, that's "climate."     And it's not "global warming" anymore - since it's not warming anymore - now it's "climate change" - which means that every time the weather changes, it's our fault.

  2. not sure but to much.

  3. If you just look at temperature data for the past 10 years, there has been no warming.

If you include 10 years of data before that and use 10 year moving averages, then it is possible to concude that the 10 year moving average has increased over the last 10 years despite the temperature not increasing.

That would be a mute point as moving averages are a lagging indicator.

  4. Just out of curiosity, I checked GISS's June 08 numbers this morning, 14.26'C.  10 years ago, June 1998 their figure was 14.84'C, a temperature difference of -.58'C.  This is despite the ENSO being neutral, which some top contributors here attributed the 2007 cooling.

Dr. Roy Spencer has a good graph for the past 10 years for you, it's near the bottom of his page. It's up to date including June 08. NOAA will be releasing their numbers later this morning.

Hope you did not bet a lot, it's cooled in the past ten years.

  5. The real question is how much has there been the last million years?

I live in an area where they say the hills were formed by glaciers.  Last week I toured Yosemite National Park (in California) and they also said there that glaciers formed everything.  So the earth must've been warming up for quite a while now because there weren't glaciers in my backyard 10 years ago.  I blame the eskimos and cavemen for global warming because they started it!

  6. None... That's just made up... It's called "climate change" the Earth heats and cools itself. There is scientific evidence as such.

Are people really stupid enough to believe that a few plastic bags and carbon emissions are going to kill the planet? God we are so full of ourselves. The Earth has been here threw a lot more than what we've done and will continue to be here long after we've wiped ourselves out.

  7. No one knows for sure, until you can come up with some valid statistical techniques. The average temperature varies because of many factors.

The world is more complicated than any computer model.

  8. About 0.2 degrees C, looking at the long term average.  Individual years mean nothing, the temperature jumps around a lot.

Reducing the level of noise in data by taking a longer average is a VERY standard technique in science.  It's how the Hubble takes those amazing pictures.

This is the world's slowest moving disaster.  It won't be a Hollywood movie style disaster. Gradually coastal areas will flood and agriculture will be damaged. But it will be very bad. Rich countries will cope, but it will take huge amounts of money. In poor countries many people will die of starvation, but not all of them.

  9. It has been cooling since 98' this has become something of a mantra. The biggest drop was actually 1999 & 2000, the temps since than have all been warmer than any year in the record before 1998. Even 99 & 2000 are warmer than all but a couple years in the 90s.

The record clearly show several bigger cooling drops at various time over the last century all passed and the warming continued claim this very small dip as the start of a cooling period is nonsense.

Oh course Randall E statement shows just how weak this point is in the same breath he is saying a 10 year piece of data is enough to prove cooling and yet 140 years of data isn't enough to prove warming, interesting logic.

  10. Global surface temperatures have averaged an increase of more than 0.15 °C per decade since the mid 1970’s.[1]

Isn’t it funny how two equally intelligent people can look at the graph linked below, and one could conclude that the global is not warming, while the other person could conclude that it is?

  11. sss day by day usage of all harmfull components are creating in the ozone layer

  12. Not much..

The GISS is the most corrupted and biased metric you could use to evaluate earths climate, there are thermometers all over the world bathing in the heat from asphalt parking lots, jet washed runways and airconditioning compressor units, and the trend shows cooling over the last ten years.

  13. About 0.1-0.15°C.  Choose whichever temperature data you like from the links below.  They all show roughly the same warming trend.  And note that cherrypicking 2 years (1998 and 2007) and taking the difference between them is not how you calculate a trend.

  14. 1.)From 1940-1978 there was a measurable global COOLING.

2.) From 1980-1988 there was a measurable global WARMING.

3.) Since 1988 there has been NO measurable global warming - the global temperature (as it has calculated in all 3 periods) has leveled off.

  15. none, the world is going through natural climate change

  16. NOT MUCH ITS GOING TO TAKE THOUSANDS OF YEARS TO WORRY ABOUT A HIGHER TEMPERTURE IN EARTH
