  1. I doubled my MPG when I added HHO fuel cell technology to my pickup truck. I made a YouTube video about it that I'll link you to in my source, also I'll link you to where I got it as its the cheapest price on the net (and I looked a lot!)

  2. Very little to none.

If you have an old engine or have been using bad gas, then your engine might have some carbon build-up on the valve stems.  This carbon build-up stays hot, and acts as a source for premature ignition during the compression stroke.  This is called a ping, and it robs your engine of power.  Not only that, but excessive pinging can cause the engine controls to lean out the mixture to avoid pings, but this also reduces engine power.

It has been found that a moderate quantity of HHO gas fed into the air intake (about 3% to 5% by weight) can help reduce pinging.  But, it would be a LOT better to simply clean away the carbon build-ups.  Your local mechanic can help determine if your engine pings excessively, and can probably recommend a good valve and injector cleaner that you can mix into your gas tank.  I can't remember the name of the best one, but it comes in a metal can and costs about $50.  Unlike the $5 ones in plastic bottles that you're supposed to use at every fill-up, this one does a VERY thorough job in one application.

There is almost no means to generate the amount of HHO gas you would need on-board the vehicle.  The only way to supply the necessary amounts of hydrogen is a compressed gas cylinder, and 1 large cylinder would only last about 400 miles, when used to augment the mixture in this manner.

So why do people claim it works?

Some are just trying to get you to buy into the scam, literally.

Others are simply confused by a screwed up engine.  The presence of a little bit of elemental hydrogen gas can really mess up the oxygen sensor.  The engine thinks that the air is oxygen poor, so it injects less fuel.  This tricks the engine into running on a lean mixture, which can actually improve gas mileage by a small amount.  At the same time, that lean mixture causes your car to produce a LOT more smog.  It also screws over your spark plugs pretty good, reducing their life from 60,000 miles to about 5,000 miles.  Ultimately, constantly running the engine on a lean mixture screws over its parts so thoroughly, that the engine gets worse mileage than it did before adding an HHO kit.  You also spend a lot more on engine parts than saved gas.

And yet others are confused by simply driving better.  That is, people who have installed HHO kits subconsciously drive more 'cautiously'.  Technically, they are driving the way they were always supposed to, but never did.  For an example of the opposite, people started complaining that they weren't getting the 50 mpg the tag on their hybrids said they should get.  The reason was simple; they drove like maniacs.

Another example, my vehicle has an EPA highway rating of 37 mpg.  I get about 40 mpg by simply paying attention to the road ahead of me so that I can travel at a constant speed and avoid unnecessary accelerations.  When I get worked up and drive like a nut, I get about 35 mpg.

  3. i have put hho on on a chevy truck, it went from 14mpg to 19mpg, a jeep wrangler V6 it went from 17mpg to 24, and a VW Jetta Diesel, it went from 47mpg to 64mpg, amazing gain with the diesel. thats just an example of what hho can do for a V8 V6 and turbo diesel. good luck, and by the way i made all of my own kits with plans off of youtube. Dont buy those kits off of the net, they are a scam, they dont make enough hho, a home made kit will out preform any net kit, and home made is like 1/3 the price of the net kits. good luck and do alot of research before you do anything to your vehicle.

  4. None as it is a scam.. I am 77 and heard this all my life and never have I saw one work yet.
