  1. New York has alway been a toxic waste site.

  2. Amen, sreeves.  Amen.

  3. About two to twenty mg. So, about 200 floors of about 100 40-inch lamps would have 20k*20 mg, or 400 g, or 1 lb of mercury.

Don't forget about PCBs in all the transformers, dioxins created by burning plastic and paper together, etc. I could smell the PCBs from my home in Brooklyn until November, 2001.

Don't worry too much about the mercury, really just a blip, and it gets washed away into the harbor. What's really toxic is the hate and suffering. The mercury killed no one; the hate from that day is still killing people.

  4. Enough to consider the result of hundreds of thousands of them.

As one poster stated "and it gets washed away into the harbor". It then concentrates in predatory fish and then in the humans that eat them.
