Is the power consumption of a 200 RMS watts music system equivalent to that of 200 Watts Normal Bulb. Is there any difference.. Can you explain it to me why....

will buying a higher RMS watts music system ( eg 350 RMS Watts) will be a loss as far as power consumption is concerned..

Is home theater or DVD deck music systems which are good for hearing music?

Thanks in advance

  1. The 200 watts RMS power is not the same as the power consumption.

Buying a higher RMS watts rated music system may or maynot be a loss as far as power consumption is concerned. The best method is to actually check the specifications regarding the power consumption.

For hearing music, I prefer a dedicated audio system rather than a home theater or DVD deck music system. Actually the choice is yours. Hear the various systems and buy the one that sounds the best to you. Trust your own ears.

  2. Music is NEVER a continuous level....

So while you may have a 200 or 300 WATT RMS output, you most likely will average about 75 to 100 Watts of power with the music.....

Now I will admit, I have NOT SEEN consumer amplifiers built with that high of a wattage since the Late '70's.....

Most peak out at about 150 Watts per channel....Denon for one....

And yes, 200 Watts from an amp is the same rating as a 200 Watt bulb....

But music is never at a continuous level.....
