  1. It depends on many factors, are the hot and cold supply pipes next to where it is going? are the lines Barrel (iron) are they copper? are they Lead.

Is there adequate drainage (external gully) for a stand pipe method.

If picking up the existing waste trap beneath the sink, is it suitable, or will it run up hill.

By all means if you are handy, have a go yourself, but seeing that there will not be any services already there, you will have to be extremely competent at DIY.

I Have fitted thousands of the things, and most customers think it is a 10 minute job, but unless all the services are adjacent to where it is going, then it could end up a lengthy process.

Ask a plumber for a quote, and the time it will take before employing anyone to do it.

I agree with Dave, although our systems are slightly different, the time and cost issues are the same.

  2. In this area of USA, I would expect to pay a plumber $300-$500.

  3. you can easily do this yourself.go somewhere like b & q and you can buy the fittings put one on each pipe turn it until it pierces and the job is done.you will also need to make a hole in the wall for the outlet pipe for the water to go down the outside drain or you can buy a fitting to go on the outlet pipe under the kitchen sink.all in all should cost you about £20 and an hour to do the job.

  4. I would charge a tenner for my mates and £20-£30 for someone I don't know. Plus the cost of materials which aren't much. If you look in Argos they have a price for fitting a washing machine, I can't remember how much it is but they should be wearing masks when they ask for the money.

Ask around (try asking about in the pub and you'll get someone to fit it as a homer, it's not a difficult job).

  5. the fittings required cost about £15 and about an hours labour to fit

  6. It depends on where it is located in the house in relation to your plumbing drain and your water supply  lines. also what type of materials copper,PVC,CPVC,PEX,Qest or galvonized. I would never give a quote blind, but the lowest I would ever expect is about $500, the highest could be about $1500.00 if you want it in a basement where a lift pump will be needed. Good luck and watch them d**n plumbers!!!!

  7. It`s not a difficult job to do yourself if the machine is going near the sink in the kitchen. Most new machines work on a cold feed only and you can buy a fitting that taps into the cold supply to the sink without even turning the water supply off.Look at what type of waste trap is on the sink and buy another with an inlet for the waste pipe from the machine. If yours is an older type machine with a hot & cold feed you can buy a `Y` fitting to go on the cold supply and connect both hot & cold to it and let the machine heat the water.

If you`re going to try it yourself, don`t be affraid to ask at the DIY store to make sure you get the correct fittings.

If you don`t feel competent about doing it,I would expect to pay about  ÃƒÂ‚£50-£60 to have it done as long as the machine is close to water supply and waste pipe.Cost will also depend  on where you live.

  8. If you are in UK then you only require a cold feed from the rising mains, as all machines are now single feed for economy reasons, (  The hot water was cold by the time it got to the machine )

The biggest amount of time is usually taken installing the "trapped" waste pipe, as it generally discharges into an outside drain.

Cost should not exceed £50 ( UK ) as in UK they are not usually  installed in cellars.

The reason for the "trapped " fitting is to stop odor and insects entering the house.
