Question:

How much Ritalin is too much?

i've been looking all over to see what a typical overdose would be and i can't find it. i read an article about some high school students who took almost 20 10mg tabs at once, with nothing more serious than heart palpitations. i take Ritalin 1.5 10mg tablets at once.......once i tried 3 at once and felt like my heart and brain were going to explode.

so i know everyone's tolerance is different and stuff, i'm 32, so i'm not dumb. but does it really just depend on the person? i know stimulants usually have a user specific threshold, but is there any sort of baseline of how much is too much? i've checked the sites and stuff to no avail, just side effects.

also, is it strictly metabolized in the liver?

  1. any amount is bad for your liver

  2. The body can build-up a lot of tolerance to the stimulants (i.e. methylphenidate and amphetamines).  The brain, however, is another story.  Even if the heart doesn't explode, the person may be floridly psychotic and delusional.

    I'm 31 & take Ritalin 20mg 2x/day.  I've taken up to 100mg / day without any ill-effects.

Edit:  A reminder that it's important to not necessarily believe everything we read and hear.

Ritalin is safe and effective for children and adults.  This fact has been established by numerous private-sector studies and government studies not connected to "Big Pharma".

  3. Its really bad for you and can get you high quickly. If you are using it for drug uses, I wouldn't recommend, but seeing that this post wouldn't really do anything, I suggest that you only us the amount you are using now.
