  1. You should let your kids watch TV for a few hours then, send them to play outside after a while they can come in and watch more TV.

  2. Free to watch whatever.

Free to watch whenever they want.

Its not like they sit on the couch all day. They play Guitar Hero and they watch alot of t.v to.

  3. Let me tell you from the kids point of view. I am 15, my brother is 16. We were always allowed to watch as much TV as we wanted and whatever we wanted as long as our chores and homework was done. And guess what, we don't even watch that much TV at all.

I have friends whose parenst limit their TV time and what they watch and when they come over to our place all  they want to do is watch TV.

I babysat two kids recently (8 and 10) and their parents rule is 1 hour of TV a day. The poor kida re so TV hungry they watch TV commercial with such a pathetic interest.

My mom is right - forbidden fruit is so much more interesting. That is why my parents never limit anythin for us as long as we tell them. My brother even told my dad when he tried marijuana a few times and soon he lost interest in getting stoned. The thing is - when you CAN it really isn't that interetsting!

  4. We have four children from almost 7 down to 1.  We don't watch TV in our house.  Our kids play outside and play with their toys and read and do all sorts of active, imaginative things and are very happy kids.

  5. My son is 5 and he watches cartoon network, the disney channel, Nickelodeon or our own DVD's. I don't limit him to a certain amount of time because he's not really a couch potato. He prefers playing with his toys or playing outside. Even if the tv is on sometimes he doesn't really watch it, he just peeks at it every once in a while while he's playing.

  6. Well its already summer for our 2 and they have 8 weeks off. During that time, i am having twins so they will watch tv then.

They are tempted to watch the tv alot because we have Sky+. If they have watched it - it has to be cbeebies or Nick, for an hour i take them to the park or do something energetic for them.

  7. Children should never be free to watch what they want. They need guidance and that is the reason for parents. I always say that rules are not to hurt you but quite the opposite ande that even parents have rules. I tell them that ruyles are meant to protect you from doing things that you being so young do not udnerstand are not good for you.

Summer if of course a time for fun. That should mean a lot of outdoor time, summer camps, 4H has ones that are not expensive, family time, and so on. Tv should be available only in the early morning when they get up, for a 1/2 hour or so, and in the evening, a family movie night with popcorn would be good, yes, even for teens although they won't like it much, family time is even more important! Also on other nights that are not family night, an hour of tv at night is enough!

I have 4 children and 3 grandkids and I will tell you that children would rather eat spinach than tell you, but they actually want rules. Those guidelines help them to develop good values and bringing up happy, healthy, and caring children is what it is all about! Good luck.

  8. My granddaughter is 6...she pretty much watches whatever...what age group were you referring?

  9. My kids are 11 and I have twin 9 year olds - they are most certainly not allowed to watch whatever they want, but then again they aren't really all that interested in TV, they prefer to play - in the summer they might watch 30 minutes a day - if that. During the school year they probably watch 30 minutes to 1 hour a day. They usually watch game shows with us at night.
