My co-worker and I are having a discussion and we need further input! We are speculating on how much Vitamin C is considered too much (based on a daily percentage). Thoughts?

  1. Is there such a thing?  I have Emergen-C and since I'm too lazy to make it, I poor it into my water bottle and shake it up that way, but it takes 3 packs to make it taste good per 16 oz bottle.  That's 3000 mg.

  2. You can take up to 2,000 mg of Vitamin C per day.  However, since Vitamin C is a water soluable vitamin, you cannot store it in your body and your body will get rid of what it doesn't need.

  3. Its water soluble so it isn't too big of a deal if you take a little extra.  You just end out pissing what your body doesn't need out.

Some vitamin c pills and vitamins go as high as 3000% of daily.

  4. I would not take more that 1,000 mg.  This is way more than that daily value need, but can help when you feel sickness coming on.  So, 1,000 mg is good, but I don't know if I'd take that much EVERY day.  But seriously, you can get all the vitamin C you need from fruits and vegetables.  Eat healthy and you won't need supplements. :-)
