i live in southern california, the high desert. i can go to the stables 4 days out of the week, and everyother week i can go 5 days. when i go, and when im done with my horse, i plan on helping out around the stable. like mucking, feeding, grooming.

thank you everyone!

  1. I'm in Mississippi and been doing a survey of the stables in the area myself.

Here the going rate for full services (stall, mucking, fed) is $300. The cost for just the stall and you supplying the fed and doing all the care is $150....

    Hope this helps

  2. It can be anywhere from $200 to $1000.  Sometimes you can work out a deal where you work around the stables in exchange for free board.  Just call around the local stables and see what you can find out.  Congratulations on getting a horse, unless it's the 2 y/o paint that I think you shouldn't get.  It's too young for you!  Just keep looking...PLEASE!!!

  3. call around and ask each barn. depending on how much work they do for youre horse is how much they're charge. asl about helping for a price cut. the easiest way is to just go ask someone who owns a boarding farm in you're area.

  4. It depends, why not call the stables and ask? It can be anywhere from $200-$1,000 a month. It depends on location, what they provide, how high end the stable is etc. I would say that for an average stable it is about $500.

  5. I'm basically in the "High Desert" myself and boarding can run anywhere from $1,000.00/mo LA & SF on down to $150.00 with the cleaning and hay thrown in.

What stables are you looking at?  I may know them.

  6. Prices vary from area to area.  In central Indiana I paid $150 for a nice stall in a nice barn, automatic waterer, feed and hay, pasture for the horse and a nice riding ring, but that was very cheap for what I got.

  7. depends where you live, they can range from 400 a month at low quality rual boarding stables to 1000 a month at nice more suburban type stables.

  8. Well i live in Minnesota and it is about 200 a month here. So i am guessing it is more there, about 300 for you. But if you help out with chores that is a deal you have to make with the stable owner. Not all stable will let you help out for lower board. Also some stables are different and make you buy and bring your own grain. And some others supply everything for you.

  9. It kinda depends. I pay 75 a month for my horse; but we have to provide our own feed, feed ourselves, and muck out the stalls ourselves. It could range anywhere from 50-400 dollars depending on the quality your getting.

  10. As everyone else said, it really depends were you are but on average for a nice barn it's around 450$ a month.

    Hope you get the horse!

  11. it all depends on how you want your horse to live... a full turnout barn costs around $175 (self care) and others can cost $200 or more... just go on-line and check out local barns to see the cost...

  12. Well, the best way to find out is by asking individual stable owners. Some may charge outragous amounts and others may offer free board in exchange for barn work.

I'm in the east and around here you're lucky to get $100 board.

Here are the average rates around here:

    Pasture board: $100 -- $250

    Stall board: $150 -- $300

Full board (a stall of its own and pasture turnout): $200 -- $550

Full board + Stable care (Where your horse is fed, groomed, blanketed, etc. by barn staff. Sometimes this is included in regular full board.): $300 -- $600

But really it all boils down to the individuals, so the best insight I or probably anyone else can offer is to ask around and look around.

    Good luck and congrats!
