  1. approx .6 oz

    ex: 1 shot of hard liquor at 80 proof = 1.5 oz of 40% alcohol by volume.  1.5oz * .4 = .6 oz

  2. one ounce, I think.

  3. Well the 'drinks' you've specified vary for a start. A shot is usually a single unit, while beer can be between 2 and 3, wheras  glasses of wine vary in size so much, it's hard to tell.

A unit is 10ml of alcohol. So for a 25ml shot, it would have to be 40% to count as precisely a unit. A large glass of wine is usually 250ml at about 12-15%, so you'll find about 3-3.5 units in there.

EDIT: Can I just add, ounces are irritating. I'm English, but seriously, the metric system's so much easier to work with!

  4. Well I think that you are asking if 1oz of say Vodka is equal to 2 Tablespoons of 190 proof (95%) Everclear. If that is what you are asking then no, not at all. 2 Tablespoons is 1oz.

So if Vodka has a 80 proof (40%) then one shot would only contain, well 40% alcohol compared to the 95% you would get from a shot of everclear.

Beer has, depending on which beer, but say a Bud Light, about 5% alcohol in a 12oz can or bottle.

Glass of wine, also depending on the wine but say a Burgundy, about 13% in a 6oz glass.

I hope this answers your question, but just so you know a shot of liquor is usually about 1.5oz to 1.75oz. If you pay $8 for a 1oz shot of Vodka I would go somewhere else.

  5. depends entirley on the beer, the liquor and the wine as they all vary greatly, average beer 5% alc, average hard liquor 40% alc, average wine 12% alc

  6. That would depend on the ABV of each drink.

    Going by averages:

12oz of beer at 5% would have 0.6oz of ethanol

A shot is actually 1oz of 40% liquor would have 0.4oz of ethanol

(a serving of liquor is 1.5oz and would have 0.6oz of ethanol)

5oz of 12% wine would have...you quessed it 0.6oz of ethanol.

Standardized serving sizes based on alcohol equivelance are designed to all people to know exactly how much alcohol they are consume...sadly this is lost on most people.

    EDIT:

    Tablespoons?

    2TBS = 1oz

1oz of 80% liquor is 0.8oz of ethanol.

    Tablespoons? It isn't cough syrup.
