  1. no, thats alot. when i was 12, i didnt even get an allowance at all...

  2. That's what I got...I still get that much.

  3. i get $20 u gettin underpaid

  4. When I was 12 I got 15$ a week.

  5. Well... my mum gives me $10 dollars a week, that's about $40 a month. It was originally five dollars, but it's been doubled so that I can pay for the unlimited texting on my cell phone bill ($20/mo)...

$5 is not unreasonable, in fact these days it's generous. However, it depends on what you spend it on. If it's mostly impulse buys and junk food, then your parents will be less willing to pay you. If they see you saving your money for things you really want or even donating it to charities or buying books, they'll see that you are more responsible with your money. Perhaps they'll even raise your allowance! =]

  6. Your child is lucky. I think that's enough. When I was her age, I would get $10 a month...

  7. when i was 12 i got $12 buck, i got a dollar added every year, but i also had to work for it, or else i got nothing.

  8. $5 a week if you do a lot of chores around the house. I'm 17 and I get no allowance (never have) but I get a $20 a month gas supplement (which gives me 1/4 of a tank...).

  9. My kids don't get any allowance.  I don't think it is necessary for me to pay my childre to live under the roof I provide or eat the food I provide for them.

  10. I got nothing when I was a kid. My daughter gets $3-$5 dollars a week depending on if she helps around the house and gets along with her siblings.

  11. No, gas everything is expensive.

Give your parents a break brat!

  12. It would all depend on what things your parents pay for. If they buy you most things (i.e. games, clothes...) then $5 is fine. At 12 my parents paid for the majority of what I had and didn't really need money besides the odd pocket change to spend at the corner store. I got $10 a week at 12 and rarely spent it all. Once I hit 16 my allowance went a lot higher but I was responsible for buying certain things for myself (i.e. make up, gas money). If I spent all my money without buying things I needed I went without until my next allowance.

So it all depends on what other expenses your parents are covering for you. If you feel you deserve more money you can always offer to do extra chores (beyond your regular responsibilities) for extra money. You can also talk about raising your allowance. Keep in mind your parents may also be giving you the most they can or may feel you do not need any more than you are getting. Bargaining works a lot better than demanding. Explain the many good, responsible things you have been doing for a while (has to be longer than a few days) and how you would like to consider upping the allowance. If they are hesitant at first you could always ask to make a deal if you fulfill some sort of commitment and stick to it they will raise your allowance (i.e. raise your grades, volunteer).

  13. It really depends on what your parents feel that they can afford, if you think this not enough money, then ask family, friends, neighbors,  if there are chores that you can do to earn some extra cash.

  14. never got allowance...would have to budget the large sume ($100-200) i get on several occasions throughout the year (birthday, chirstmas) and make it last all year long. taught me great budgeting skills cause i knew i would not have money coming in every week!

  15. When I was 12, I got $3...for mowing the yard. I had to earn what I got.

    $5 for doing...nothing...is pretty sweet.

  16. I didn't get an allowance; we got paid for doing chores.  Try doing more around the house and asking for a raise.  Since you should be saving at least 10% of your allowance, $5 a week isn't very much.

  17. The rule of thumb is a dollar for every year of age when giving an allowance.

What do you do to earn the money ask if you can do more.

I do not give an allowance my children do chore because they are apart of the family, when they want to go out with friends or buy a CD they ask for the money if they have done their work I have no problem giving them the funds.

  18. When I was 12, I got ZERO a week.  As my parents reminded me, I wasn't paid to go to school or do my chores.  Those were just family expectations.  If I needed somehting, I would ask and they would decide if I could have it or not.  When my son is 6....when he is 12, he won't get allowance either.  I don't feel I need to pay my kid to participate in household chores.  Im ready for my thumbs down now, lol.

  19. well it depends wat you do i had to do alot of shorees just 2 get at least 5 bucks id say ur pretty lucky
