Hi,

My 13 year old cat has started to 'command' me a little bit more these days and I'm afraid she has a gluttonous appetite for food.

I have a two year old who can probably pass for an acrobatic - she does a lot during the day physically, but she doesn't even ask for food throughout the day like my 13 year old.

I started to feel like my 13 year old has a problem and it's not worms - she just came back from the vet and she's NOT skinny (nor fat) but normal for a Scottish Fold of her age.

I'm gonna call the vet today but I wanted to know if anyone on here knows why she's turned into an eating machine (keep in mind - she has no worms).

Thank you so much in advance! Have a great day.

  1. There should be something on the bag to tell you how much a serving is. If not, ask the vet. They have an amount they can reccomend.

  2. The proper amount to feed per cat/per day should be about 5.5 ounces of wet (high quality grain free canned or Raw Meat/Bones/Organ) food.

The calories in that amount of food are sufficient for most "normal" sized cats. Of course a highly energetic cat will need more food to keep it healthy, and a lazy cat will need less food to keep it from getting obese. But 5.5 ounces of wet food per day is a good place to start.
