I will be staying for 10 days at the end of the month (honeymoon) at an all-inclusive resort. I look and lots of places seem to indicate that most everyone accepts american dollars for tips, taxi shuttle from airport, etc. I plan on using my credit card (visa) to book excursions...

Do I need to worry about obtaining Dominican Pesos before leaving?

I was planning on bringing $800 US in assorted bills throughout my luggage, as well as my credit card in case of emergency.

  1. nope! i just came back from an all-inclusive resort, and we gave tips in American dollars. That's what they want!!

    Have fun!! Beautiful country.

  2. Don't buy Dominican currency befor trip. Just pay in us dollars at arrival (tax 10 us pp) and at departure (20 us pp) for the rest you can pay excursions in us dollars and to buy souvenirs go to a ATM and you will get the local currency. The rate for the moment is 1us= 33 RDS.Enjoy the trip and discover this beautiful country!!
