My Car is a 1996 Cadillac Deville 4-d sedan. It had a coolant leak and when checked by a mechanic turns out that it needs a new radiator fixed. Appx. how much would it cost me if I were to take it to a mechanic (including the radiator and labor charges). I live in Pennsylvania. Also am looking for any suggestions as to a cost effective placed in general where I can go and get it fixed..(like Peb boys or Tyre-plus, etc). Thanks

  1. Probably at least a hundred dollars and another hundred to install. Call around, ask Pep Boys and other places like that.  If you are fairly handy, you could probably do it youself.  Don't forget all new coolant.

  2. A decent 4 row radiator (copper and brass) will cost @ $300.00, aluminum @ $500.00, either way install it yourself, it's not hard.

  3. For a shop to buy the radiator, mark it up, applicable labor, new clamps and coolant I would guess around 400-450 dollars. You should also get at least a one year warranty on this parts and labor. PS, dont buy a used radiator and pay someone to put it in. What if after they put it in, it leaks or is bad, you will have to pay again for them to swap it out.

  4. The cheapest is do it yourself with a used radiator from the salvage yard. Take half a day and $50-$100 for the radiator. Shop will sell you a rebuilt or new radiator and take a couple of hours to do the work at $100/hr. The new or rebuilt part will cost a lot more than used.

Maybe a radiator specialist can do it best.

  5. your probably looking at around 350-300 bucks in that car those are kind of hard to change out,i did one and with the cost of the radiator and labor plus new anti freeze 400 would be a good price on doing that one, good luck.

  6. Check your yellow pages for salvage yards and ask if they have a radiator for your car.

Pep Boys will install it, so unless you are going to do it yourself they would probably be your best pace to go. It looks like it will cost you around 215 dollars just for the radiatior from any Auto Parts Store, but a salvage yard would be much, much less.

  7. AT KREGAN IT IS AT LEAST 192.99 TO BUY IT AND IF YOU CAN FIND A FRIND TO PUT IT IN THEN THAT WOULD BE CHEAPER

  8. the radiator on Autozone.com is about $200.  You'll need coolant and probably hose clamps as well so add another $40 for those items.   Most shops will charge about $100 to install the radiator.  Looks like about $350 with tax.

local mechaincs are usually less than the chain stores and are usually more capable.  Chain stores have a higher overhead.  changing a radiator isn't a technical job so it shouldn't be too intensive.

    hope that helps
