  1. Usually each AP score of 3 to 5 depending on the college, will get you 3 to 4 credits.  And they count as taking certain classes, all entry level/general education for the most part besides math.  For example, one of my AP classes was American History, so I didnt need to take the basic American History as part of my core classes in college, and I got 3 credits for it, just like if I took the class in college.

You pretty much saved the first year to year and a half in college, if the college you go to accepts all of those AP scores.  Just because you scored a 5, dosent mean they will accept it.  they can very easily say, AP American History does not fullfill our history requirements and you need to take a class in the history area.

Also, for math, they scores wont matter until after you take the test most colleges administer.  Many make incoming students take tests to determine where they stand.  And many wont take look at Math AP scores until after you have taken those tests.  Further, say you have AP calculus and you got a 5.  But you didnt test out of calc, that AP test wont get you anything at that college.

Also seemed to me that when I was looking for colleges, the bigger and more prestigious the college/university, the less of the AP classes that they accepted.
