If you get them from an optometrist (eye doctor) there are two separate fees -- the cost of the contacts and the cost of the fitting.  The fitting is where they measure the size of your eye so the lenses are a perfect fit.  Depending on your insurance coverage, it may cost nothing or it may be around $100.  The lenses themselves also vary by brand.  Usually, it runs about $29.99 and up per box.  If you go to the Accuvue website, there is a coupon you can print out for a free pair... you'll still need to pay for the fitting, but it's a good deal.

You can also get costume contact lenses without a prescription or fitting.  Usually you buy them by the pair, and they can range from $27 to $100.  The only concern, when doing it that way, is that you need to make sure you are buying them from a safe and reputable source -- there have been instances in the past where costume lenses left longterm effects.

my acuvue2 colours were about $30 a box. one for left and one for right. 6 pairs total, which should last about 3 months.
