Booked a 6 day trip out of New Orleans this May. First time for either of us, trying to get the budget in order. Any help is greatly appreciated.

  1. Each Day they have a "drink special" usually costs around $4.

When you board they ship they will be offering tropical drinks in their hurricane glasses, they run about $7, you can then keep the glass & have it refilled at a lower cost. Beer runs about $4 domestic,,, they also offer 5 beers in a bucket for about $11... these specials are usually only on the lido deck.

Of course, coffee, tea, juice are included in the price you paid. Wine & other bottled/canned beverages are additional.

Always ask what "specials" they have... can help save $$.

    Have a great time!

  2. Drinks are ussualy included in the price of a Cruise. If not, they will be relativly cheap. Probably in the range of  2-3 $ a beer.

But most likely drinks and food are free on your cruise.

  3. As a long time cruiser I can tell you that drinks ARE NOT included and are usually quite expensive, just got back from Hawaii on Celebrity , we did get a couple of free glasses of champagne but even sodas are expensive.

  4. Drinks are pretty resonible. I think the most I ever paid was $8 for the drink of the day (Carnival Imagination). One thing for sure is that they were alot cheaper then any of my drinks I had the whole time I was in Vegas!

  5. not sure, but i know if you buy the drink on the cruise they wont give it to you until the last day of the cruise so i would buy it from new orleans

i was just on imagination for christmas

it was amazing, you'll have a lot of fun!

  6. Beer is about $4.50 plus 15% automatic tip.  Alcoholic drinks are beginning around $5.50 plus 15% automatic tip.  Soda is $2 per can plus 15% tip.  Special drinks of the day are $4.50 plus tip.

Coffee, tea, iced tea, juice, lemonade are free in self service.

You may get a glass or two of cheap champagne free at a cocktail party.

The ninny who answered above my answer was obviously talking about buying a bottle of liquor on board.  You can do that but they hold it until the last evening.  The same goes for liquor bought ashore and brought onboard.  That is so you have to buy drinks instead of mixing them in your cabin.

Plan for some shore excursions on your cruise and pre-book them.

  7. each alcoholic beverage is between $5 and $7. They serve a lot of drinks in those souvineer glasses which are around $15.

I just took a Carnival cruise. Make sure you get to the pool early - it gets packed quick!

  8. Just got back from one and they will run you around $7.00 a drink for "normal" drinks when the 15% gratuity is added. Despite what was posted earlier, NO, drinks (other than water (not bottled water however) and tea, coffee and a lemonade from the machines) cost you, even soft drinks.

As far as your budget, the best way and trust me, it works out about right every time, is to double the cost of your cruise is what you will need to budget (ie. cruise cost $500/per person, figure on spending $1,000 - that's in the middle range, higher if you like to shop, drink, lower if you are a budget cruncher)
