  1. Unless you can speak, read and write Japanese at an above average level, your question is moot.

  3. 80,000 yen to 150,000 yen? Really?

One of the answerers (田中) says that you can find a 3 bedroom apartment in Tokyo (Asakusa) for 950 yen/month. Maybe you should contact 田中 to find out where those places are.

  4. If you look for apartments in Japan, your numbers seem about right. You can also live somewhere for cheaper (from about 65,000) if you share the kitchen and bathroom with other rooms.

Some apartments include utilities in the rent, otherwise it seems to be between 10,000 and 20,000 a month.

Some also include internet and a television, but I'm not sure the prices if they don't.

I got a bottom of the line cell phone for 3,800, then bought minutes for it (1000 yen for 100 minutes, I think). Other cell phones that are nicer would be 5,000 to 20,000, plus the cost of contract stuff.
