Question:

How much are road bike wheels?? im looking to get this bike but im not sure what i will need?

it is noticeable that the wheels are not in good condition...do you think i will need a whole new set or just the tires?? what would be your recommendation?? and where can i get a fair price? ( say under 100) thanks.

  1. It looks as though those are 27" wheels.  JensonUSA has a front for $40, a rear for $45.  Those are not bad prices.  I know that from building my own wheels.  Parts would cost more than that.

    First, take the bike to your local shop.  Clean up your bike first. :-)  You may only need tires and maybe minor truing.  You may only need some truing and the bearings lubed.  Then again, the labor on that might cost you the same as a new set of wheels.

    Good luck with it.  I like to see all bikes stay on the road.

    I suggest that instead of replacing the wheels that you have them serviced. Clean them up and have the hubs overhauled, replace the tires and tubes. New replacements will not be anywhere near the quality of the originals.

    Hopefully you won't be spending more than $50 on that bike- there are thousands- maybe millions- of those hanging around.
