Reg. the great place to visit, it depends upon which part of India you are visiting.  There are many great places  in India  for a tourist to visit.

Depends on where you are and where you are going, but 9 Rupees gets you a fair distance on a bus. They are very cheap by Western standards.

Taxis vary dramatically, and a lot depends on whether you are a tourist or a local, as it invariably does in just about all countries.

As an example, a 40 minute govt rated taxi fare from Dabolim airport in Goa to the southern beach areas of say Colva, Benaulim or Cavelossim is 400 Rupees.

In towns & cities use the "Auto Rickshaws", known as Tuk-Tuks in Thailand as they are two-strokes and go tuk-tuk-tuk.

Just about everywhere in India is great place to visit whilst you are on holiday. Mumbai is frenetic, but the "Gateway to India" is there, Hyderabad has the Hassain Sugar artificial lake and is much smaller than Mumbai, New Delhi has the "Freedom Arch", Agra has the Taj Mahal and fort etc, Goa has the beaches etc etc.
