  1. Australia only allows the keeping of native species to protect our fauna. So the only turtles allowed to be kept are the freshwater turtle species, like the murray or long neck turtle.

    The only persons allowed to keep exotic species are zoo's, researches and public demonstrators who have the appropriate license - which can only be granted to them and not the general public.

  2. I live in maryland U.S. and our diamond back terripans are now protected and are not in the pet market but if you wanted a wc one they are super easy to come by, they are everywhere.

  3. I am not sure about Austrailia,but in U.S., it costs around $250.00 for a whole set up. That is with the terrapin and every thing it needs to stay healthy.

  4. maybe but - remember - you will need a big tank as they grow  to about 6 - 12 inches. just go to all the pet stores you can, they sometimes have them -
