  1. people like chris judd and nick riewoldt make over a million for footy plus their adversiements ect..

  2. I heard Russell Crowe owns part of a team, and they have a 5 million dollar salary cap for the whole team. Beyond that, I don't know.

  3. the afl clubs have a salary cap of around six million aud... but to afford to pay players more the club can seek endorsement or sponsership from companies and business to pay players and that money isn't classed as part of the salary cap. a player like chris judd is on over one million before sponsership or endorsement. i hope this gives you some idea.

  4. alot

  5. A lot less than football players get in America.

The top contracts - in AUD - would be around $2 to 3million over 4yrs or 5yrs, so around $500,000 to $600,000 a year at most.

1st year players might get $40,000 a year, most contracts would be around the $100,000 to $200,000 I would think because the clubs have salary cap limits so they cant just pay everyone the big bucks.

There is also outside sponsors if they are linked to nike or something like that, they might get a bit extra.

Taking into account all of that, I do believe that Lleyton Hewitt is the highest paid Aussie sportsman

Edit - the team which Russel Crowe is part owner of, is a Rugby League team, not an Aussie Rules team
