  1. I may be wrong with the exact number, it's changed recently, but teacher's start off with $32,000 where I live.  I've been teaching for almost 7 years and make $43,000.  You do need to have a bachelor's degree (in my county) and some places may require you to earn a master's.  Mine pays for it, but you have to get a master's.  It just depends on the county and state that you want to teach.  Websites give a lot of information.  Try to look up a couple of school districts websites and look under jobs.

  2. In the Dallas/Fort Worth, TX (and suburbs) area starting pay is about $43,000 before taxes if you have your Bachelor's degree.  It's nice because in Texas there are no state income taxes.  Then it goes up a bit each year.  Also, they offer a stipend of a couple thousand dollars (for the first year, I believe) if you teach something that is in demand, for example math, science, or bilingual spanish.  The demand for teachers is strong here.

  3. The amount you are paid depends on the school district. My school district starts at $37,000 for teachers with a Bachelor's degree. Each year, the teachers' union bargains with the school board for a raise, which is typically a standard of living increase.
