  1. For Routine veterinary care and vaccinations:

    75-150 for the first year

    50-70 for the other years

  2. It really depends on the vet you see, they all have different prices. If you're interested in a ferret but aren't sure because of prices, then I think it would be a good idea to call some vets in your area and find out what they would charge for certain things. The vet I see charges $57 for the office visit (this also includes the general exam of the ferret) and $20 for each shot (one is a little more than the other, but it averages out to be $20 each). It's also recommended that ferrets have blood work done at least once a year (more often for older ferrets). How much that costs really depends, not only on your vet, but also what you actually want to check for. I have one now that I want to be tested for adrenal, which will cost around $300, general blood work is less but I'm not sure exactly how much (mine are having dental work done, which includes blood work in the price, both together cost $290). Some other things and their prices (again, these are what my vet charges): urinalysis - $36; dental radiographs - $85; non-dental radiographs - $91 for the first and each additional is a little less; and tooth extractions - $40-150. Anyway, for shots and a general exam, I'd say you're looking at around $100, but don't expect that to be all you ever pay for vet visits. Sorry to ramble, but I just want you to realize that they will need other things done, too, which will cost you more money (ferrets aren't cheap to keep).

  3. My yearly vet bill was $168.00 for my ferret, Mr. Fingers. May he rest in peace. That was several years ago, rates may have increased. Humane society does discount exam/vaccinations for all animals. if cost is a factor, consider calling your local office.

  4. Usually under $200. Not too bad, unless they happen to get sick or eat something they can't digest.

Here is a Ferret Lifetime medical chart and the average price for most vet costs.
