Question:

How much are you charged for going over the weight limit of a carry on bag?

China Airlines website says it has to be about 15 lbs, and my bag is weighing in around 20lbs. I REALLY don't want to have to check it, I'd rather just pay a fine to keep it with me. I've tried calling their customer service but I was on hold for 20 minutes.

Any help??

  1. i, flew once, where my bag was also slightly overweight, and each airline charges a differnt rate, but i had to pay $50.00, go to the airline and look up there baggage rules and regulations so , you know ahead of time, also perhaps if only slightly over, place some of the smaller items in your carry on baggage, have a safe , happy flight

  2. It varies greatly from airline to airline.  Some don't care about the weight of your carry on but are very fussy about the size of it.  So there is no way to know for sure.  Sometimes I have not been charged at all for overweight baggage on one flight, and then on another flight with the same airline I was charged for the exact same bag.  So it is really impossible to tell what will happen with it.
