  1. i think 15% = $1.50

  2. 20% i think

  3. $2 is a pretty reliable guideline. Again, if you have a large party, try to tip at least $2 per person, because regardless of the amount of food eaten, it is a lot of work and usually keeps the server from serving others. Remember that servers usually make somewhere between $2.65 and $4.00, not minimum wage.

  4. yeah, 2 dollars for every 10...

But with big groups, take into consideration the amount; if the total is $100, tip at least $20- even if the service is less than admirable, simply because a lot of work goes into the meal itself.

  5. Another way to figure this out is to double the tax. That is about the 20% tip you should give!

  6. Between $1.50 and $2.00 is standard, but I've been getting picky after all my years in the service industry. If they gave lousy service or there was a problem, $0.75-1.00 is fine.

(Current servers, please don't thumbs down me! I speak from experience as both front and back of house and as management and am entitled to my opinion! I used to be a 25-30% tipper but am sick of paying too much for below-standard service!)

  7. 20% is the going average so $2.00 per 10 would be good, think about it this way the tips is what they live off of ,wait staff only makes anywhere from $2.65 to$3.65 per hour and what bill are you going to pay, out of your pay check alone?    not much , i dont even think you could even get back and forth to work on that kind of a paycheck, so keep this in mind when you leave a tip.

  8. Yes $2.00, that is 20%

  9. yes it's $2. today i waited on a lady, she asked me what 15% of $15. was (that was what her bill was), i told her it was $2.25. then she asked me what 20% was, i told her $3.she went on to say she wasn't good at math. i told her if she wants me to do the math it's another 25 cents. she left me $3.25, 20% + 25 cents. it was funny, i wasn't being a b*tch. she was very nice.

  10. if service is good 15% of bill should be given as a tip and if service was great then should be whatever you feel.If service is poor then lower than the 15%,

  11. Depends on the service. Generally speaking, good service is deserving of a 20% tip (in which case, $2.00 tip for every $10 spent is appropriate) however, I base my tipping on the following scale (amount shown is reflective of every $10 spent):

    Excellent service: 25% tip ($2.50)

    Good service: 20% tip ($2.00)

    Average service: 15% tip ($1.50)

Below average service: 5-10% tip ($0.50-$1.00) depending on how badly the service was, how rude the server was, etc.

Deplorable service: no tip! (only do this if you're so disgusted that you never again plan to visit this establishment)

If you're a regular customer and follow this method, servers tend to get the idea and will treat you well, if they're smart :)
