How much benefit can Vietnam derive from a business relationship with U.S MNCs?

In the long run, not much....but many governments are desperate for investment in any way possible and believe that MNC's can provide jobs for their workers so that civil unrest is stifled. Capitalism's myth of wealth creation for all is powerful, especially when people see a few who are able to become rich and others believe they might be able to have that for themselves.
