  1. Before: Borderline .500 team duking it out for a playoff spot that doesn't mean much because they will most likely get knocked out in the first round.

After: Eliminates really all chances of a Diamondback post season.

I wouldn't say this pushes them over the top because Manny has durability issues and his bat not that of old. However he is obviously the best hitter on the team and solidifies the middle of the lineup and gives the opposing pitcher someone to be nervous about. If Andruw Jones can do anything from now on, we could see a great 3-4 combo and with Kemp, Loney, Martin, and the great pitching, they would make a post season run.

  2. Manny's perfect for the Dodgers right now. They've won three straight, and will only get better with the way Manny makes everyone around him better.

  3. He has two homeruns already and that is all they had before the whole season at the left field position, so definitely the Dodgers are much better with him.

  4. Rather, how much better is Manny with the Dodgers?

It's the National League, after all.

  5. Put it this way, of all those that could have been taken in any of the trades that took place over these past few weeks, Manny was by far, the best offensive player.  The Dodgers could not have done better.  Whether it be for the short term or whether they can sign him at the end of the year, doesn't matter.  It's this season that counts.

  6. So far I think there doing way better!!

    -Go DODGERS!!!!!!!

  7. A bit better, right up until the NL pitchers figure out that they should just walk him every at bat, then they won't be better at all.

  8. At first I thought this trade was senseless considering the Dodgers weren't a serious contender and Ramirez is going to want $20MIL to hit next season, but now I can see some sense in the deal.

Bring the dreadlocked freak in and let him help the team make the playoffs. This gives the young players a chance to experience postseason play and the pressure that may accompany it. Then let the money-grubbing @ss go to the highest bidder and insert your young players who can hit AND field back into the lineup and let them make a serious run at the World Series next year.

Mercenary players can be used the same as they use teams, right?

  9. Helps tremendously

  10. Offesnively he's an upgrade from anything they already have, but he has no protection like he did in Boston.  Defensively he's a downgrade from whoever else onthe team plays outfield.  That being said I don't think the Dodgers are a much better team with him.  If anything he took them from the 2nd best team in the NL West to the best team in the NL West.

EDIT:  Their pitching has been pretty good all year, but they're not that far ahead of the Cubs in pitching stats and the Cubs have a FAR better offense.

  11. One player can only make so much of a difference, but this guy is going to make quite a difference for you and probably help a couple others in the line-up.

I don't know how it will pan out in the end, but you're going to have a lot of fun watching him. Enjoy.

  12. Manny's not much of a fielder, and they still don't have enough pitching.  They might be just better enough to win the NL West, but they've won a grand total of one postseason game in 20 years, and I don't see them winning in the NLDS.

  13. They are way better now they can make the playoffs

  14. It all depends on whether Jones is in Las Vegas soon.
