  1. In my Escape, I average about 23 mpg doing 75mph, and about 25 mpg doing 65mph.

I have the V6 engine in mine.

  2. For almost every vehicle doing no more than 65 is better than doing 75.  When you read the sticker on you car when you buy it and it says the estimated MPG for highway, that figure is usually based on 55 to 65 MPH.  Anymore than that and you are just burning more gas.

  3. about 15%

slowing to 55 mph can save up to 25%

  4. Who knows? It completely depends on the vehicle. My Cobra, for instance, gets its best fuel economy at 80-85 mph in 6th gear. My Scout gets its best around 55-60mph in third gear (its only a three speed). My stepmother's C230 Kompressor gets its best at 75-80. My Ranger seems to get the same anywhere between 55 and 70.

Your fuel economy depends on your engine's power band, gear ratios, the vehicle's wind resistance, type of tire, resistance of the vehicle's drivetrain, occupant/cargo weight.

Most of all, it depends on your foot. Drive light and easy for best fuel economy.

  5. It averages about 1% per MPH.  Do the math !!

  6. about 5 miles to the gallon

  7. if you travel in your car at a steady 75mph you burn more fuel there for you travel less distance (completely) and have to refuel more often but at 65 that is all avoided and you refuel less.
