  1. XP can do a few things that Vista can't.  Vista can't do anything that XP can.  The only reasons to "upgrade" from XP to Vista are:

    You have too much money

    Your computer runs too fast.

You have too much unused RAM and disk space

  2. xp is far better with SP2

  3. ive got vista the dvd player/recorder is much better you get more space to put things on and it is easier to organise your music and it runs faster but sometimes it is hard to find things. Vista can't do anything that xp can't.

  4. xp is better, less problesm and runs smooth

  5. i have vista, i think its great, its gives you more advantages, and alot more space. it comes with upgraded stuff, and more programs.

  6. Don't do it.  Vista sucks.

  7. Vista is very much superior to XP in a wide range of respects, and can do lots of things that XP cannot - those who say otherwise are just IT simpletons who do not know what they are talking about.

For instance, Vista has better memory management - install a load of memory in XP and a lot of it will be left unused unless you run a lot of programs - Vista will use as much as it can to improve system performance.

Vista is fast - sometimes much faster.

Vista has infinitely better multitasking - XP will render all otehr applications unresponsive if one becomes a processor hog.

    Vista starts programs much faster.

Vista has better file management - it stores multiple versions of your user files so if you accidentally overwrite one while editing you can go back to an earlier version.

Vista is almost infinitely more secure, though some people turn off some of its security features because they do nag you a bit (but with good reason). These people are the ones that constantly have to reinstall because they have been hit by viruses.

Vista has a protected video path, so can play HD movies at HD resolution. XP cannot. It can only play them at low resolution.

Vista has much better recovery tools when things go wrong.

Vista has a much safer driver model (though this makes some older drivers incompatible). XP quickly becomes unstable if any driver does even a tiny thing wrong.

    I could go on...

But as for upgrade, you would need to have a good reason. An upgrade is very expensive (needlessly so) and may need a hardware upgrade too. Unless you desperately need a new feature, I would not do it - there are workrounds for most things (except HD playback).
