  1. It depends on what you mean by a 'day'.   Do you mean casual riding for a few hours?  Do you mean a long, 8-12 hr ride?    If you average 8 mph, then it would take you 2.5 hrs to do 20 miles.

  2. It depends on the bike, but the average person could probably manage 10 mph on a hardtail mountain bike on a road. Assuming a "day" is from the time you get up to the time you go to bed, then there would be 16 hours - 1/2 hour to get dressed - 2 hours minimum for breaks - 1 hour eating =12.5 hours x 10 = 125 miles

Ok, I doubt an "average" person could really do that, because of hills, wind, traffic and fatigue. Thats just theoretically what could be done.

Your question is basically impossible to answer, there is no "average" person, and there are so many variables that even the same person could go considerably farther on some days then others depending on the variables.

  3. I have never ridden more than 60 miles in one day....I havent had the time...but if I did....I think the most I could ride a day is 120 if your going 8 mph then you could do it in under 3 hours... an average person may just be able to hop on a road bike there first time and ride about 10...

If your only going 8 maybe you should check your tire pressure and invest in a road bike

    just my 2 cents....

  4. My personal best:

111 miles in 5h 36mins. Average pace: ~20mph with a couple of stops.
